APPELLATION: Ribera del Duero DO.

VINIFICATION: Malolactic Fermentation started in a natural way in stainless steel deposits immediately after the alcoholic fermentation, and carried out at controlled temperatures of between 20-25º C for 10-15 days.

TASTING NOTES: This deep cherry red wine has ripe fruity aromas, along with well integrated fine toasted notes. Well structured and silky smooth on the palate, with mineral touches. Well rounded, meaty, and full flavoured, with reductive hints of tobacco and cedar, along with polished silky tannins, and with a long and complex finish.

FOOD PAIRING: Perfect for red meats, roasts, fowl, firm-bodied fish such as salmon and pasta dishes.

Viña Solorca Winery is located in Roa (Burgos – Spain). They have been making wines in the traditional style since it was established in 1998, producing Reserva and Gran Reserva in quantity and quality thanks to their selected ancient own vineyards.

This family-run winery is owned by José Víctor Balbás Arroyo who comes from one of the area’s pioneering wine-making families. His experience and knowledge is complemented the rest of the professional and qualified team that make up the winery staff. Day by day they face the challenge of improving the quality and reputation of the Viña Solorca wines, taking care of every last detail, so as to take their rightful place among the very greatest Ribera del Duero producers.

The Solorca estate consists of 95 hectares of Tempranillo vineyards surrounding the winery.  All this vineyards were inherited from the family or have been purchased during the yeard to well-know winegrowers from the area. This is an important factor contributing to the excellent quality of their wines.

The vines have an average age of 45-60 years old. Mostly in bush vines, located at an altitude of more than 850m and of course hand-picked.

The Winery makes use of the most advanced and modern techniques in the wine-making process with a capacity for 350,000 kgs of grapes. It has more than 1700 barrels of French, American and East European oak, from the very best quality barrel makers and very different toasted degrees, which gives to their wines a unique texture, tannins and flavors composition. 300.000 bottles of wine per year, resting  in the bottle room at a strict controlled temperature and humidity.
